Hi, my name is Vicki Chen, and some people call me Lili, which is my Chinese name. First I acknowledge that the land we live, work, and study on is shared, and I thank the Lheidli T’enneh, the ancestral inhabitants of this area, for their generosity in sharing the land with me and my family.
I am an artist and lover of creativity, a traveller, an entrepreneur, and a tropical plant and garden enthusiast. I came to Canada in 2001 to study, and now I have a BA Economics, am completing a Certificate in Fine Arts, and three children who I love to watch read, think, and write as they fall in love with learning. Watching my kids get inspired by their Elementary teachers inspired me to become a Teacher Candidate in UNBC’s Education Program. I speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, and I am interested in sharing my culture and learning about the other cultures. I want to be a teacher in the same conversation as Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus: I want children to fell that learning is an adventure!
